The LinkedIn games are fun, actually
LinkedIn launched three games to mimic NYT Games, adding joy and mental health benefits to users' professional networking experience.
In May, LinkedIn added three puzzles — Queens, Crossclimb, and Pinpoint — similar to New York Times games, allowing users to enjoy a brief diversion on the professional platform. Just like the NYT, LinkedIn has found success by integrating these games to engage their audience more effectively.
DeepWell DTx co-founder Ryan Douglas explained that short, daily brain teasers like these can activate the brain’s limbic system, which manages stress, and help establish new neural pathways for better stress management. Playing these quick games provides a beneficial distraction that can improve mental health in moderation.
Since July, LinkedIn has seen player engagement grow by approximately 20% each week. The games also encourage social interaction, as users can see which of their connections have played and start conversations. The phenomenon aligns with the broader trend of integrating games into various platforms to boost user engagement and well-being.
