The Switch 2 is my favorite for playing Cyberpunk 2077, and it's not just because of mouse controls

Cyberpunk 2077 shines on Switch 2 with seamless controls, even in demanding scenarios.

: The Nintendo Switch 2 provides an excellent platform for playing Cyberpunk 2077, thanks to its accurate gyro controls and substantial graphics power. Although mouse controls can be cumbersome, they are balanced by the ergonomic design improvements offered by accessories like Dbrand's Killswitch case grip. Cyberpunk 2077 maintains impressive graphics at 1080p resolution and runs at between 30 and 40 frames per second, falling short of 60 fps standards but achieving a playable experience. The game's visual and environment storytelling remains strong, allowing players to immerse themselves in its rich, futuristic universe.

Nintendo’s latest handheld, the Switch 2, flexes significantly improved hardware—a custom Nvidia chip, 12 GB RAM, and DLSS/VRR support—allowing it to render Cyberpunk 2077 at native 1080p in handheld or docked modes, and maintain consistent performance between 30–40 fps during intense action scenes.

Performance testing, including from Digital Foundry, shows that in handheld “Quality” mode with DLSS, the game averages around 30 fps, while the “Performance” mode pushes up to ~40 fps, though both modes can dip into the 20s in dense scenarios like Phantom Liberty’s Dogtown—and yet overall the experience is surprisingly stable for a handheld.

Beyond the raw numbers, many users and testers hailed the gameplay feel: compared directly to other handhelds like Steam Deck or base consoles, the Switch 2 delivers smoother visuals and fewer frame drops. One reviewer even called it “the premier handheld for Cyberpunk 2077 at launch.”

What elevates the experience further is the inclusion of Joy-Con mouse mode and full mouse-and-keyboard support when docked. These aren’t just gimmicks—PC Gamer reports the mouse controls are comfortable and intuitive, and GamesRadar highlights how docked play with a gaming mouse turns the Switch 2 into a handheld-style PC experience.

Finally, the port itself impresses: the entire base game and Phantom Liberty expansion fit onto a 59 GB cartridge, and in handheld mode the game manages around 40 fps with minimal bugs. GamingTrend calls it “astonishing” that such a massive RPG runs so well, praising the polished experience and minimal glitches.
