The Witcher 3's director explains why he had to leave CDPR to make his dream vampire RPG: 'We had crazy ideas'
Konrad Tomaszkiewicz leaves CDPR to create a unique vampire RPG at Rebel Wolves.

Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, notable for his work on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, decided to leave CD Projekt Red to pursue his vision of a unique gaming experience. His new venture, Rebel Wolves, aims to innovate the RPG genre with unconventional concepts, which he felt larger studios might not be willing to embrace.
Rebel Wolves, founded in Warsaw, employs several ex-CD Projekt developers, including Daniel Sadowski and Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz. The studio's debut game, 'The Blood of Dawnwalker', features Coen, a half-human, half-vampire protagonist, navigating the challenges of rescuing his family from a vampire faction in the Vale Sangora.
The game incorporates cutting-edge elements like 'time as a resource', which interplays with a dynamic day-night cycle and a 'narrative sandbox' style. This design allows players to influence the storyline deeply, choosing their path by completing specific quests and facing challenges set by the vampire antagonists.
