This wild hardware mod crams an iPhone SE 3 into a classic Windows Phone

An iPhone SE 3 modified into a Nokia Lumia 1020 shell, blending iOS with Lumia aesthetics.

: A modder named OceanDepth95028 transformed a Nokia Lumia 1020 by replacing its internals with an iPhone SE 3, creating a device known as the NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE. The Lumia's polycarbonate design is preserved, while the phone now runs iOS and features a Touch ID sensor and a Lightning port. Despite some compromises like losing the original Lumia camera and headphone jack, it gains 5G connectivity. The project is considered a remarkable blend of both Nokia and Apple technologies.

Reddit user OceanDepth95028 created a hybrid phone by integrating a third-generation iPhone SE into a Nokia Lumia 1020 shell. The project, termed the NokiApple LumiPhone 1020 SE, merges the cheerful design of the Lumia with the technological prowess of Apple's iOS, featuring an A15 Bionic chip and 128GB storage within the Lumia's iconic exterior.

The mod includes some notable changes: the original 41MP camera is replaced with the iPhone SE's 12MP camera, a Touch ID sensor is embedded where the camera module used to be, and a Lightning port substitutes the old micro USB port. However, the headphone jack had to be sealed, and the capacitive buttons were removed to fit the larger display, evidencing the challenges of such a transformation.

Functionality is mostly retained—except for the wired shutter button now acting as an extra volume down control—but 5G connectivity has been added, a first for a Lumia. This fusion of devices results in an eye-catching gadget that looks like a classic Lumia but functions as an almost modern iPhone.
