TikTok is no longer available in the US

TikTok is banned in the US, awaiting a potential solution from the incoming administration.

: The US ban on TikTok took effect following the passage of the "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Apps Act." TikTok was removed from app stores, causing users to see a notification stating it's unavailable. ByteDance's attempts to challenge the law in court failed, but President-elect Trump's potential involvement offers hope for resolution.

TikTok's operations in the US have ceased following the enforcement of a ban enacted under the "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Apps Act". The ban required TikTok to divest from its parent company ByteDance within six months, a mandate the company contested in the Supreme Court, but the appeal was denied unanimously.

The app was promptly removed from Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store just before the ban's deadline. Although the app is no longer operational, a message informs users about the ban and hints at a potential solution once President Trump assumes office. The Biden administration's delay in clarifying policies left TikTok ineligible for continuation beyond the tenure.

An extension by the incoming President Trump has been hinted at, which could allow TikTok a 90-day period to sort any possible agreements to stay functional in the US. Notably, firms like Perplexity AI have expressed interest in merging with TikTok's operations, while individuals such as Kevin O'Leary have shown inclination toward acquiring interest in the service, offering varied possibilities for its future.
