Trump calls for creation of a ‘crypto strategic reserve’

Trump advocates for a U.S. crypto reserve, initially including XRP, Solana, and Cardano.

: President Donald Trump has called for the establishment of a U.S. federal reserve of cryptocurrency assets. Initially, he suggested that the reserve include XRP, Solana, and Cardano, later adding Bitcoin and Ethereum to the list. Trump's executive order seeks to undo former President Joe Biden's crypto regulations. The order directs a working group to propose criteria for national digital asset stockpile creation.

President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to establish a federal reserve of cryptocurrency assets, signifying a major turn in U.S. crypto policy. Initially, he highlighted XRP, Solana, and Cardano for inclusion and later stated that Bitcoin and Ethereum would also be part of this strategic reserve.

In January, Trump issued an executive order aimed at exploring a national digital asset stockpile. This order prompted the formation of a working group to study crypto policy and suggest stockpile criteria, which may include assets seized through federal law enforcement activities.

Trump's move contrasts with former President Joe Biden's approach to cryptocurrency regulation. While Biden's administration set a regulatory framework, Trump is pushing for a more crypto-friendly policy, including SEC actions dismissing the Coinbase lawsuit and deeming memecoins non-securities.
