Zapp Electric Vehicles, a London-based company, plans to expand globally, starting with the UK and Thailand, followed by an early entry into India. The company's first product, the i300 electric two-wheeler, is set to launch with an aim to test international markets and establish itself as a global EV brand. Founder and CEO Swin Chatsuwan highlighted India's massive two-wheeler market as a key reason for accelerating the expansion plans into the country.

The i300, unveiled first in 2018, features an aerospace-grade alloy exoskeleton and a peak power of 14kW. Zapp has partnered with Bounce Electric 1 to manufacture and sell the i300 in India, with sales expected to begin in 2025 and a goal of producing 5,000 units annually. The company expects their entry into India to expand their total addressable market by 25% or reach 60 million units annually in the first phase.

Zapp aims to differentiate itself in India by offering a high-end product priced between 500,000 to one million rupees, unlike cheaper models from local manufacturers. Their strategy includes understanding the local supply chain for future global exports and offering various personalization options for the i300. Beyond this launch, they plan to expand further into markets like Spain, Italy, Vietnam, and Indonesia in future phases.
