Unitree launches G1, a $16,000 humanoid robot capable of household chores using advanced sensors and learning mechanisms.
Unitree has launched the G1, a highly functional humanoid robot priced at $16,000, aimed at becoming the first mainstream humanoid robot. With a height of 4 ft. 3 in. and a weight of 80 pounds, the G1 is compact but robust, featuring 23 degrees of freedom in its joints for impressive agility, balance, and movement.
The G1 can walk at 4.5 mph, jump, climb stairs, and perform complex gymnastic moves. It is equipped with a combination of sensors, 3D lidar, depth cameras, and a microphone array that allows it to respond to voice commands and navigate autonomously around the house.
Higher-end versions come with articulated hands capable of grasping and manipulating objects to perform delicate tasks like soldering. The robot boasts a 9000mAh battery providing up to two hours of use and joints with 88 lb-ft of torque. Unitree claims the G1 can learn new tasks through imitation and reinforcement learning, making it a versatile assistant for household chores.
