Welcome to Meta’s future, where everyone wears cameras

Meta envisions a future where smart glasses with cameras become ubiquitous, showcasing this at its Menlo Park campus.

: Meta's Connect conference revealed a vision of a future where everyone wears smart glasses with cameras, exemplified by Ray-Ban Meta glasses. These devices, which include a 12MP ultrawide camera, are becoming increasingly powerful with AI features. Although not fully AR capable, they offer a seamless way to capture and share life moments, evoking both excitement and concern.

At Meta’s recent Connect conference, the company's vision of a future filled with smart glasses equipped with cameras was on full display. The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, featuring a 12MP ultrawide camera, were omnipresent, suggesting a world where these devices replace smartphones as the primary tool for capturing and sharing moments.

While wandering around Meta’s Menlo Park campus, the glasses were seen on nearly every face, providing a glimpse into CEO Mark Zuckerberg's ambition. Though the glasses currently lack full AR capabilities, they are enhanced with AI features, making them indispensable for documenting and sharing life in real-time, seamlessly from the wearer's perspective.

However, this pervasive technology brings concerns about privacy and ethical usage. The constant potential of being recorded can generate anxiety and discomfort. The ease of capturing candid moments raises issues about consent and the unintended sharing of personal moments, highlighting the dual-edged nature of such advancements.
