World's fastest smartphone charging tech goes 0-100% in under 5 minutes

Realme's 320W SuperSonic Charge can fully power a smartphone in under 5 minutes using a 'Pocket Cannon' charger and unique battery design.

: Realme revealed its 320W SuperSonic Charge at an event, claiming it can fully charge a smartphone in 4 minutes and 30 seconds. This technology utilizes a unique folding battery design and a powerful 3.3 watts per cubic centimeter adapter. Realme has integrated safety features like an 'AirGap' voltage transformer to maintain efficiency and ensure safety.

Realme has introduced its new 320W SuperSonic Charge, setting a new benchmark by fully charging a smartphone in 4 minutes and 30 seconds. This new charging technology was unveiled at an event in Shenzhen and utilizes a unique folding battery design where four cells are stacked to mimic satellite panels, providing a higher 4,420 mAh capacity.

The charger, dubbed the 'Pocket Cannon', boasts a power density of 3.3 watts per cubic centimeter, which is significantly higher than the previous 240W charger’s 2.34 W/cc. It supports multiple fast-charging protocols such as UFCS, PD, and SuperVOOC, making it versatile for charging both smartphones and laptops.

For safety, Realme has incorporated an 'AirGap' voltage transformer that isolates high voltages from the battery during circuit issues, using contact-free electromagnetic conversion. This enables the system to step down the voltage to a phone-friendly 20V while maintaining a 93% charging efficiency. The real-world applicability of this technology remains to be seen once products with SuperSonic Charge are released.
