WoW's The War Within pre-expansion patch has already made the 20-year-old MMO so much better
World of Warcraft's pre-expansion patch 'The War Within' brings major quality-of-life improvements, like Warbands and dragonriding enhancements.
World of Warcraft's The War Within pre-expansion patch introduces essential quality-of-life changes, greatly enhancing the 20-year-old MMO. One of the most notable additions is the Warbands system, which allows characters to share achievements, gear appearances, and progress across different realms. This update bridges gaps between characters that previously existed, making gameplay more fluid and less tedious for long-term players.
Another exciting feature is the inclusion of dragonriding, now called skyriding, which liberates mounts from their Dragonflight origins. This new flight dynamic provides faster and more engaging travel across Azeroth. Steady flight has also been improved, offering more speed and less need for constant input, making navigating the game world more enjoyable across the board.
Additional updates include shared renown between characters in a Warband, easing the grind for reputation. The patch also brings a revamped UI and smoother camera mechanics. Though there are some initial bugs and cluttered character selection screens, Blizzard promises these will be refined over time, making this a sophisticated lead-up to The War Within expansion.
