X gains a faster Grok model and a new ‘Grok button’

Free and Premium users have different access limits, while a new 'Grok button' aids users in discovering information. The enterprise API sees pricing reductions due to improved efficiency, and the Aurora image model will be added soon.

This evening, xAI announced an upgraded version of its Grok 2 chatbot model now available to all users on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. The improved Grok boasts it is three times faster with enhanced accuracy, instruction-following, and multilingual capabilities.

Free Grok users are limited to ten questions every two hours, while subscribers to X's Premium and Premium+ plans benefit from higher usage allowances. Alongside, a new 'Grok button' helps users find relevant context, understand events, and explore trending topics deeper.

xAI also revealed changes to its enterprise API, introducing more efficient and multilingual Grok models, which enabled pricing cuts to $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Furthermore, xAI plans to include its image generation model, Aurora, in the API soon, following its debut this month in the Grok chatbot experience.
