: X is shutting down its San Francisco office and relocating employees to various Bay Area locations, as communicated by CEO Linda Yaccarino. The move follows threats by Elon Musk to relocate the company's headquarters to Austin, Texas. Employees will work from shared spaces in Palo Alto and San Jose. The company has faced several local issues since Musk's acquisition.

X is closing its longtime San Francisco office and relocating employees to other locations within the Bay Area, as stated in an email from CEO Linda Yaccarino. This decision follows weeks after Elon Musk's threats to move the company's headquarters to Austin, Texas, although Yaccarino’s note did not mention Texas.

Employees are expected to transition to a shared engineering space in Palo Alto, also used by xAI, and other locations in San Jose over the “next few weeks.” Under Musk's management, X banned remote work and faced legal and regulatory challenges, including a lawsuit over unpaid rent and issues with the city's building inspection department.

Despite Musk's earlier commitment to keeping the headquarters in San Francisco, citing loyalty to the city, recent developments suggest a departure. The San Francisco Chronicle noted that X’s landlord was seeking to sublease much of the company's 800,000 square-foot space, hinting at the relocation.
