X is testing a free version of AI chatbot Grok
X tests Grok AI chatbot for free users with usage limits.
Social network X, developed by xAI, has introduced testing for the AI chatbot Grok's free version, initially exclusive to premium users. The move to allow free access, currently tested in New Zealand, aims to attract a broader audience and collect user feedback rapidly.
The free version has set limitations: users can make 10 queries every two hours using the Grok-2 model and 20 with the Grok-2 mini model. Additionally, users are restricted to three image analysis questions daily, ensuring controlled utilization of the chatbot's capabilities.
To access Grok for free, new users need an account that is at least seven days old with a linked phone number. xAI's strategy to increase its userbase is in line with competing against similar AI models such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, following funding discussions valuing xAI at $40 billion.
