X will let people you’ve blocked see your posts

X will now let blocked users view but not interact with posts, changing its current blocking functionality.

: X, owned by Elon Musk, will let blocked users see public posts, despite blocking interactions. Currently, a 'You’re blocked' message prevents visibility of profiles. Musk disapproves of the block feature and hinted at replacing it with a stronger mute. This new approach could make targeted harassment easier.

X, led by Elon Musk, is altering its platform so that blocked users can view, but not interact with, public posts. Currently, when someone is blocked, a message prevents them from viewing the profile and activities of the person who blocked them.

Musk has expressed dissatisfaction with the block function, suggesting it should be replaced by a more robust mute option. Although the current block button stops interaction, under the new update, it won't prevent visibility of posts, which could facilitate harassment.

A source from X mentioned that people can already see posts via alternate accounts or when logged out. However, some Verge staffers noted that logging out actually blocks profile viewing, contradicting this claim, leading to concerns about potential misuse of the new feature.
