You can now talk to Google Gemini from your iPhone’s lock screen

Google Gemini now accessible from iPhone lock screen via widget.

: Google Gemini is now accessible from the iPhone lock screen using the Gemini widget, allowing real-time interaction with the AI chatbot. This update, noticed by 9to5Google, enables features like Gemini Live for voice interaction. Users can also use widgets for photos, reminders, and chatting with Gemini. Project Astra's features will come to Android, initially for Gemini Advanced plan users.

Google Gemini users can now engage with the AI chatbot directly from their iPhone's lock screen, thanks to the Gemini widget, as announced in an update on Monday spotted by 9to5Google. This includes using Gemini Live, allowing real-time voice interaction with the AI before unlocking the phone.

This development comes amid delays with Apple's AI-enabled Siri integration, pushing other tech companies to present their own AI solutions to iPhone users. Additionally, OpenAI's ChatGPT on iOS offers Advanced Voice Mode for similar lock screen interaction.

Other features in the updated Gemini app include widgets for capturing photos with the iPhone camera, setting reminders, and direct text chats with Gemini. In March, Gemini on Android will begin receiving Project Astra's AI-driven features as part of Google's $20 monthly Gemini Advanced Plan, enabling real-time questions and answers about video and onscreen content.
