YouTube TV reaches new deal to keep Paramount content

YouTube TV secures a deal with Paramount to maintain channel availability and expands streaming offerings.

: YouTube TV and Paramount have reached a new deal, ensuring no disruption in channel availability, including CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon. The agreement expands their streaming relationship, allowing YouTube TV to offer Paramount+ to qualifying customers. Paramount criticized Google's negotiating stance, claiming it jeopardized the consumer experience.

YouTube TV and Paramount have successfully negotiated a new deal, preventing any interruption in service for channels like CBS, CBS Sports, and Nickelodeon. This announcement came after warnings that Paramount content might disappear from YouTube TV on February 13, averted by a short-term extension during negotiations.

The new agreement not only continues their existing relationship but expands it by enabling YouTube TV customers to access Paramount+ for qualifying subscribers. This move comes as pay TV providers, including Google, push for more flexible ways to bundle channels without passing added costs to subscribers.

Internally, Paramount co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy, and Brian Robbins criticized Google, calling them unwilling to agree to market-consistent terms. They emphasized that Paramount is critical for a successful video product, pointing out that conflicts like this risk consumer satisfaction.
